Russian cosmonauts arrived at the International Space Station wearing Ukrainian colors, in what appears to be a statement against the invasion.
Russia attacked its eastern neighbour last month.
They were welcomed on the plane with open arms, hugging and greeting their fellow crew members.
Russia, America, Canada, Japan, and several European countries are involved in the project.
It is led by a US-Russian partnership that has been going on for two decades despite tensions between the two world powers.
The three Russian cosmonauts docked at the International Space Station after a three-hour flight from a Russian-owned facility.
A voice from Russia's mission control said " CONGRATULATIONS on the successful docking" moments later.
Three smiling men wearing bright yellow and blue space suits floated into the space station after two sets of hatches were opened a few hours later.
One of the men was seen wearing a plain blue uniform before taking off.
The moment was live-streamed by both the American and Russian space agencies.
When Mr Artemyev was asked about the suits in a live-streamed press conference, he said that it was their turn to pick a colour.
He joked that they had accumulated a lot of yellow material so they needed to use it.
People around the world have used the colors of the national flag of their country to show their support.
The three Russians will be on the International Space Station for six months.
Three current crew members are going to fly back to Earth on March 30.
