Sources told Jeff Passan that the Twins and Carlos Correa are in agreement on a three-year, $105.3 million contract that includes opt-outs after the first two seasons.

According to sources, the deal will pay him $35.1 million in each of the three years.

According to baseball-reference.com, which ranked third in the American League, Correa posted a career-best 7.2 WAR last season, and is coming off perhaps his best season. He hit.279 with 26 homers, 92 RBIs and 104 runs scored for the Houston Astros. He played in his most games since the 2016 season.

It was the most decorated season ever. He played in the All-Star game, won his first Gold Glove, and was the top overall defender in the American League. Since he joined the Astros, he has ranked sixth among all position players in WAR.

During the playoffs, Correa has been even more accomplished. Since his first appearance for Houston, Correa has 18 homers in the playoffs. He has more than any other player in that time period.

Despite his association with the sign-stealing scandal and his insistence that the World Series title was legit, Carlos Correa remains a controversial figure. He told reporters before the 2020 season that they won fair and square. We earned that title.

Despite the controversy, Correa is respected as a leader in the club. If your best player is not a good leader, they can take you down the wrong road. Carlos is in a category.

The Astros had a qualifying offer worth $18.4 million. Houston will get a compensatory draft pick as a result of his departure.

The Houston Astros selected Puerto Rico baseball player Carlos Correa as the top overall pick in the 2012 amateur draft. He won the American League'sRookie of the Year in 2015.
