The Atlanta Braves signed Kenley Jansen to a one-year, $16 million contract, the team announced Friday.
The Dodgers will win a World Series in 2020 with the help of Jansen, who has been with the team for 12 years. The Braves beat the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series the following year.
The right-handed pitcher had a bounce-back season in which he generated his highest average fastball velocity in two years, and used a cutter that recovered some of the oomph he had lost through the years. He finished the season with 38 saves.
The pitcher has a 2.37 career ERA with 1,022 strikeouts and 350 saves. Craig Kimbrel has saved more saves than any other closer.
The Braves placed right-handed pitcher Jay Jackson on the 60-day injured list because of a right lat strain.
