There is a protest in Montgomery, Alabama. Donald Trump told a news outlet that he is displeased with the performance of Rep. Mo Brooks, the candidate he endorsed for Alabama's U.S. Senate race.

According to a report published Wednesday, Trump told the Washington Examiner that he was disappointing.

The conservative firebrand and ally who whipped up a crowd of Trump supporters at the Jan. 6, 2021, rally that preceded the Capitol riot has been endorsed by Trump.

In the primary battle, there are two formidable opponents: the helicopter pilot who shot down and held prisoner in 1993 and the head of a state business group.

The Alabama Senate race will decide who succeeds Richard Shelby. The chief of staff was previously served by Britt.

It is a very tight race between the three of them, and I am not particularly happy about it, Trump told the Examiner.

In a state where Trump won a majority of the vote in the last presidential contest, his backing is a valuable campaign asset. Any wavering by Trump would be seen as a blow to the campaign.

The Trump connection has been heavily leaned on by Brooks. His campaign signs refer to him as "MAGA Mo" in reference to the former president's "Make America Great Again" slogan. At a recent campaign stop, he had a life-size poster of Trump.

On Wednesday, the campaign put the blame on the person.

Will Hampson, a spokesman for the Brooks campaign, said in a statement that the deal was that the team put out a fake poll, then lied to President Trump about it.

Trump told the Examiner that he had been told by the man who was with him at the Alabama rally that he had made comments that caused jeers from the crowd.

It was time for the crowd to move on from the last presidential race and focus on the upcoming elections, according to Brooks. Some rally-goers booed after the remark.

The outlet was told by Trump that he wanted to know if the man had changed.

Hampson said that the 2020 election was fraught with massive voter fraud and that it was stolen by Joe Biden.

The only one in the race to stand with him was Mo Brooks.

The false claims that the voting was rigged in the 2020 election have been thoroughly discredited by Trump and his allies.

The Alabama contest is not the only one where Trump's pick is struggling. Sean Parnell dropped out of the Senate race in Pennsylvania after allegations of abuse by his ex-wife. Ted Budd, his endorsed candidate for an open Senate seat in North Carolina, has failed to make a splash. David Perdue is trailing incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in Georgia.

Several high-profile races, including contests in Ohio, Missouri and Arizona, have been held back by Trump.
