On the first day of the legal tampering period, quarterback Tom Brady called Russell Gage and he thought it was a prank. Gage had just talked to his agent and was considering his options.
Gage thought it was a joke when he was told that he wanted to be a part of it. He didn't have to say much. He had me hooked on it after that. It was definitely special.
Gage said he got the call when he took out the trash. Over the past two seasons, the two faced each other twice a year. Gage had a career-best 130 receiving yards in the last game against the Bucs.
When I got the call, I was in a state of shock because I had just seen some fake news on social media.
I had conversations with teams and offers, but this was completely different. This was unlike any other. It was a huge blessing. I was 3 years old when Tom Brady got into the NFL, so to hear from somebody like that, just seeing the other day that he unretired and now he is reaching out to me? It was amazing.
