Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Dallas Cowboys have re-signed a veteran LB.
He had a four-year deal with the Cowboys. Since being selected with the 19th overall pick in the draft, the defensive tackle has been a staple in the Dallas defense.
The Cowboys did not pick up the fifth-year option. Ron Slavin said that Dallas wanted to sign him to a contract extension before his contract expired.
His best season as a pro came in his first year, when he recorded two picks, seven passes defended, 140 tackles, two tackles for a loss and one quarterback hit.
The decision to re-sign Vander Esch should come as no surprise. He had 77 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and one quarterback hit in the season.
The Cowboys will once again have one of the most talented defenses in the NFL in 2022. The players are hoping to have better campaigns next year.
The Dallas Cowboys are looking to win their second straight NFC East title and advance to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years.
