The Hill reported that Nancy Pelosi called on the White House to double their initial request for new funding for COVID-19 aid after bipartisan negotiators recommended allocating just $15.6 billion to fight the ongoing Pandemic.

President Joe Biden asked Congress for $22.5 billion in new Pandemic aid as part of the government funding bill, which the White House said would cover immediate needs to avoid disruption to ongoing.

Over the next few months, there will be significant response efforts.

The funding was cut down after GOP opposition.

Pelosi scrapped the new COVID aid from the government funding bill after members objected to the measure being funded by clawing back state aid from the stimulus law approved last year.

The House Speaker met with Biden administration officials, including Health and Human Services Secretary and top US infectious disease expert, after which she told reporters that the White House proposal would only provide enough relief by early summer.

When they asked for 20 billion dollars, it was only going to get us to June, Pelosi said.

She said that the administration should ask for more because they need more and they can&t expect money. Let's just go for a bigger chunk.
