Davante Adams was traded by the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday.
According to Ian Rapoport, Rodgers knew his time with Adams was over when he signed a new four-year contract with the Packers. Rapoport said that the situation was too far gone between Adams and Green Bay.
The relationship between Adams and Green Bay deteriorated when the wideout told the team that he wouldn't play under the franchise tag. The Packers were willing to give Adams a long-term deal.
Green Bay was willing to sign Adams to the same amount of money he was getting from the Raiders, but the receiver preferred to go somewhere else.
Rodgers and Adams have been one of the most productive quarterback-receiver tandems in the league. Adams set new single-season franchise records for reception and receiving yards last season. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the fifth year in a row.
Rodgers was named the Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row. He led the Packers to the top seed in the playoffs, but they lost to the 49ers.
