Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy announced Tuesday night that a fourth Russian general had been killed in the war in his country. The slain officer was identified by the Interior Ministry adviser as Maj. Gen. of the 150th motorized rifle division. Russian forces invaded Mariupol on Tuesday, and the Associated Press reports that the man died. The death has not been confirmed by Russia.

Britain's Ministry of Defense said in its early Wednesday public intelligence assessment that Ukraine's armed forces have excelled at exploiting Russia's lack of maneuver, frustrating the Russian advance and causing heavy losses to the invading forces. A senior U.S. defense official said Tuesday that Russia and Ukraine retain about 90 percent of their original combat power, and that Russia has launched more than 950 missiles at Ukrainian targets in the first 20 days of the war.

On Tuesday evening, Ukrainian forces repelled an attack on the second largest city in the country, according to the regional leader. He said that the Ukrainian army was able to push the enemy back beyond its previous position.

The Ukrainian military destroyed a number of Russian attack helicopters and other military vehicles at the Kherson International Airport on Tuesday.
