The LinkBuds, a set of earphones that have an open design, was introduced by Sony in February. We picked up a set of LinkBuds from Sony to see how they compare to the third-generation AirPods.

The LinkBuds have a naked donut-shaped earpiece that goes in the ear. The LinkBuds do not have any form or Silicone tips.
The hole in the LinkBuds is an open ring driver that is designed to let users listen to music while also keeping an ear open to their ambient surroundings, similar to headphones and sunglasses. The sound quality is above average.
An adaptive volume control feature adjusts music to the sound in the ambient environment, and you can double tap on your ear to play it. The double tap gesture can be used to play music, adjust volume, or skip tracks, with settings available in the Sony app. There is an option in the app for adjusting the EQ.
The LinkBuds are ultra small and lightweight, and they are held in place by a secondary bulb with a small fin. It's not too far away from the AirPods in our testing. They are light enough not to be uncomfortable for a couple hours of use, and can be worn for a decent length of time before they irritate the ears.
The LinkBuds come with a charging case that can hold 23 hours of listening time, as well as a battery that lasts for 5.5 hours. The case is small and pocketable.
LinkBuds don't have features like automatic device switch and quick pairing that would make them comparable to the AirPods. The LinkBuds are earbuds that are ideal for running, biking, and other similar activities, and people who don't care about those features might want to check them out.
