The videos look like they were taken on Mars, because a massive storm carried desert dust all the way from Africa to the Sierra Nevada ski resort in Spain.

The videos show a thick layer of orange dust blanketing the resort's snow-covered slopes and an orange glow from the sky above.

Skiers can see the white snow beneath the dust as they go down the slope.

It is the kind of conditions you would expect to find on the Martian surface, not sunny southern Spain. When asked if this is what it would look like if Mars had ski slopes, Musk replied with a laugh.

Shut Down

The operators of the resort had to shut down several ski lifts because of the situation.

Dramatic skies and terrible air quality have been caused by the storm. The weather in Spain was extremely unfavorable.

Mars Resort

It's not clear if climate change was responsible for the massive dust storm, but previous research has linked it to climate change and the expansion of the Sahara desert.

There are many concerns regarding the impact that climate change is having on the patterns of the storms that favor the arrival of dust to our country, according to a spokesman for Spain.

Is this what a holiday on Mars will look like? It will take some time and a lot of engineering to find out if it is possible.

FEMA says storms like the ones that ravaged the Midwest were caused by climate change.
