The Bills released Cole Beasley on Thursday.
The wide receiver was granted permission to seek a trade by the Buffalo Bills in March, with the final year of his four-year, $29 million contract set to account for $8.6 million in cap space.
Last season, he had the same number of catches as the year before, but he had less receiving yards. He only had one receiving touchdown this season, his lowest in four years.
He missed one game last season because he was unvaccinated. He threatened to retire and was vocal on social media about his thoughts on the COVID-19 policies. During the season, he deleted his account from the social networking site because he said it was a distraction. Chris Mortensen reported that Beasley was fined multiple times for violating the COVID-19 protocol.
He spent his first seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, and had 319 catches for 3,272 yards and 23 touchdown.
In 149 games, he has 552 catches for 5,709 yards and 34 touchdown.
