Red Bull driver Sergio Perez doubts he will participate in the next season of the documentary Drive to Survive after saying the latest one had gone too far.
Drive to Survive was the most watched programme in 33 countries after it was released.
In its fourth season, the documentary has helped build F1's popularity in the United States and brought a new wave of fans to the sport in a number of countries.
The series for manufacturing drama and inventing rivalries between drivers that don't exist in real life has been criticized.
Perez said the raw material of the season should have been enough to make for entertaining viewing.
I really thought that they had the best season in Formula One to work with, and I feel like they missed out a bit in the story and the way they presented it, according to Perez.
The season already had enough drama, so they tried to create too much.
They have probably gone too far this season. I thought it would be the best season, but I haven't finished watching it.
Perez said that he spent a lot of time on the documentary in Mexico, but it wasn't included in the final cut.
I did a lot for them last year, but I am not going to do as much this year. It is a lot of media to commit to. I will do less media if I can escape it.
Max Verstappen, who won the title last year, decided not to participate in the filming.
In an interview with the BBC earlier this week, he said that the second episode of the series was based on a rivalry between McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo.
Verstappen said he was not impressed with the two episodes he watched.
Lando and Daniel are two great people and they have great characters, but at the second episode it looks like they are not very friendly to each other, and that is why I'm not sure.
