punisher

There is a person named "Punisher."

There have been many people who wondered if Disney acquiring all the old shows would come with a catch, that while they may make their way onto Disney Plus, they would end up being censored in some way.

Turns out that hasn't happened. The most violent scenes in shows like Daredevil and Punisher have not been edited. The sex scenes for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are still graphic. If Disney had decided to censor the shows, it would have caused a huge backlash, and there is a reason that Disney has updated its parental controls to try and do that.

Kevin Feige said something about Moon Knight, which is an original series for Disney Plus.

He is brutal. It has been fun to work with Disney Plus and see the boundaries shifting on what we can do. There are times in the series when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is to pull back on this. We are not pulling back. There is a shift in tone. This is not the same thing. This is Moon Knight.

I feel like we may be seeing that Disney is finally going to be releasing it's movies that are dark, like R-rated dark, in the Marvel universe at times. I don't think we will see a lot of R-rated blockbusters, but we may see a few if this is the policy shift now. I think there will be even more flexibility on TV, starting with Moon Knight, though we will see if that reaches Daredevil/Punisher levels of violence.

This opens a door to a lot of potential for Disney. It's possible that Disney wouldn't have made the movie back when it was released, but maybe in this era. Jon Bernthal said he would only return to the role if they could do it. If you're going to be airing season 1 uncensored on Disney Plus, who's to say a season 3 wouldn't be just as brutal?

I'm not saying Disney needs to completely change the tone of the MCU, but I'm sure it won't. I think we're going to see a bigger range in both directions. It seems like a Freeform teen dramedy. You can now see Jessica Jones and Luke Cage go to town on each other on Disney Plus. It is a new era, and I think it opens up a lot of possibilities for the future of the universe.
