According to a report from 9to5Google, the new design of the Home app will make it a lot more intuitive. The upcoming 2.49 update will allow you to interact with your devices from a single screen, similar to the device control panel on phones with Android 11 and up.

The release notes on the App Store show that the update is meant to make the app more user-friendly and quicker to use.

The last major design change for the device was in the year of 2018, and later added controls to change the color of the lights, but has remained the same ever since. There are still some single-tap controls like turning things on or off, but we have a clunky app that forces us to tap into each device to make specific adjustments.

Over the next few weeks, the redesign will be rolled out, but it might not be enough to see the changes. Some users, like the former editor in chief of the XDA-Developers, have successfully side loaded the update on their phone.
