What adding Von Miller means for the Bills (1:21)

Von Miller has agreed to a six-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.

According to multiple reports, Miller's deal is worth $120 million. Sources told Adam that it includes $51.5 million guaranteed and $45 million fully guaranteed at signing.

O.J. Howard was brought in by the Bills as a veteran tight end on a one-year contract. Sources said the deal could be worth up to $5 million.

Miller is the best pass-rusher on the Bills, despite the team investing in defensive ends in the past two drafts. Buffalo has used two second-round picks and one first-round selection on the position in the past two years, but lacked a player that opposing offenses needed to be aware of.

The Bills have just that with Miller. Jerry Hughes had a team-high 37 pressures for a defense that generated pressure at the second-highest rate last season.

I always put resources in the front. Brandon Beane, the Bills general manager, said earlier this year that it was just how he believed it should be built.

The Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl after acquiring Miller from the Denver Broncos in November for two second- and third-round picks.

Miller recorded five sacks for the Rams in eight regular-season games after being slowed by an ankle injury. He recorded four more sacks in the playoffs, two of which were recorded in the Super Bowl.

Miller's playoff pass rush win rate of 41.5% was by far the highest by a player in a single playoff game since the metric was started tracking it. The Rams had 18 pressures from him and Donald.

Miller won his second Super Bowl. He was named the Super Bowl 50 Most Valuable Player when he had 2.5 sacks in the Broncos' victory over the Carolinas, a team that included Bills coach Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane as members of the front office.

Since Lorenzo Alexander in 2016 Buffalo has not had a player finish a season with 10 or more sacks. The only Bills defender who had at least five sacks was Mario Addison. The Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs had one or fewer players with five-plus sacks. The team was involved in the pursuit of other veteran pass-rushers as well as rounding out the defensive line with other free-agent signings.

Miller leads all active players in sacks. He has recorded at least 10 sacks in seven of his 10 NFL seasons, including a career-best 18.5 in 2012 when he finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He missed the 2020 season because of an ankle injury.

He was the Broncos first draft pick and was named the defensive rookies of the year. He became one of the most decorated players in Broncos history with eight Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro selections, and he was chosen for the all-decade team for the 2010s by the Hall of Fame.

Howard will be working with a player who is coming off a career season, catching 49 passes for 587 yards. The most receiving touchdown at the position was tied with Rob Gronkowski, who had nine.

Howard will add another weapon for Allen, and Ken Dorsey will likely introduce more two tight-end sets to the offense. The Bills used two-plus tight ends on a league-low 100 plays. Howard had over 400 receiving yards in three straight seasons before Gropp arrived.
