Kris Bryant and the Colorado Rockies are in agreement on a seven-year, $182 million contract.
Bryant was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the San Francisco Giants in July of last year.
He slashed.265/.353/.481 for the Cubs and.265/.353/.478 for the Indians after the trade. In the Giants' five-game playoff loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, he had eight hits and 25 homers.
Bryant earned his fourth career All-Star selection despite a slump in which he struggled at the plate and with injuries, despite a rough 2020 season in which he struggled at the plate and with injuries.
The Rockies liked what they saw, that Bryant was a middle-of-the-order bat and a fielder who can play third base, first base or the outfield. Bryant is an obvious choice to join Charlie Blackmon as a designated hitter.
The Rockies haven't won a playoff game since 2009, and the right-handed swing of the NL Freshman of the Year will offset the left-handed slant to the outfielders.
The MLB Network reported on Bryant's deal with the Rockies.
Colorado has made a major investment in being competitive in the NL West after its roster upheaval over the past year-plus, including last year's trade of Nolan Arenado and the probable departure of Trevor Story.

After seven years in Chicago, he was traded to the Giants for prospects.
Bryant is an above-average fielder and one of his best attributes is his ability to play all over the diamond. He played in 93 games in the outfield, 55 at third base and a dozen at first base in the year 2021, playing in 55 at third base and a dozen at first base.
Bryant has been limited in his production due to injuries. He can still hit at a high rate when he's healthy. He is one of the tougher outs for the opposition, and he has pitched accordingly because of that.
Bryant is a career.279 hitter with 167 homers and 487 runs scored, but he is about to get a full season of play at hitter-friendly Coors Field, where he has a.263 batting average with two homers and nine runs scored.
