According to sources, the TennesseeTitans are planning to release wide receiver Julio Jones.

Jones will be with the team through the 2024 season. It is likely he will be released after June 1 and the team will save $9 million in salary cap space.

The Atlanta Falcons traded Jones to the TennesseeTitans for a sixth-round draft pick in 2020 and a second-round pick in 2022. The move was supposed to give Tennessee balance.

Jones had career lows with 31 catches for 434 yards and one touchdown reception in 10 games because of injuries.

It looked like we were headed in the right direction, but there were some setbacks along the way. He helped the football team. It was one of the things that we were trying to work through. As players get a little longer in their careers, you have to work through that balance. You see some things and wonder if that was an isolated instance or a repetitive thing.

Jones was limited by injury for the second year in a row. He played in nine games for the Falcons in 2020.

After Jones is released, the top receiver on the depth chart will be A.J. Brown.

You have taught me a lot in a short period of time. I am grateful to be part of your journey. I started to play this game because of you. HOF is what you are and what I want to be one day. I will take it from here. Salute!

The Falcons traded multiple picks to Cleveland to take Jones sixth overall. Atlanta traded its first-round pick in 2011 to acquire Jones.

Jones is the Falcons career leader in catches and yards and is second in touchdown catches. His 91.9 receiving yards per game is the best in the history of the league.
