It hasn't always been smooth sailing for Musk's satellite internet venture.
The final three months of the year are measured by the latest satellite internet quarterly report from Ookla. Starlink came closer than it ever has to replicating quality home internet with a median download speed of 104 megabits per second.
Ziff Davis is the parent company of both Mashable and Ookla.
Viasat and HughesNet are the two main satellite internet providers in the U.S. The median speed for all fixed broadband providers was 131Mbps.
Even at the low end, Starlink's median speeds exceed the FCC's definition of broadband (25Mbps or higher) even if it comes from Musk. As the service grows, it will be a matter of stability. Starlink's median speeds decreased in the middle of last year as the service got more customers. The fastest Starlink service tier costs $500 per month.
Yeah. Maybe Starlink works well, but that doesn't mean it's accessible just yet. If you're in Miami and don't trust your local internet service provider, you might want to check out Starlink.
