The Las Vegas Raiders made a number of changes to their defense on the first day of the new league year, reaching agreement on a free-agent contract with four-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Chandler Jones, sources told ESPN.
The Jones deal with Las Vegas was reported by the NFL Network, which said it was for three years and more than $50 million.
When he was traded from the New England Pats to the ArizonaCardinals, Jones solidified himself as one of the top pass-rushers in the league.
He was named first-team All-Pro in both of his seasons in Arizona and earned three Pro Bowl selections. He set the franchise record for career sacks with 10, which is the most in the past four years.
Jones had double-digit sacks in five of his six seasons. He did not have a sack in 2020 because of a bicep injury.
After finishing with 19 sacks, he returned in 2021.
There were questions about Jones' future with the Cards. Jones didn't get the extension or new contract he wanted heading into the final season of his five-year deal and asked for a trade. He did not get that either.
Jones missed two games because he was on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but he played in 15 of 17 games last season.
Maxx Crosby, who was the Pro Bowl defensive Most Valuable Player and signed an extension worth 95 million dollars last week, will be a bookend to him.
Graham said last week that they would be good to go.
He had 10 sacks last season, his first in Las Vegas, and rejoins his former Raiders defensive coach in Indianapolis as he gives the Colts some much-needed help in the pass-rush department.
After the departures of Denico Autry and Justin Houston in free agency, the Colts dropped from 40 sacks in 2020 to 33 in 2021. He has 55 sacks in his career. The Colts general manager looks for moves that fit the mold of what he looks for in a player, and that's why he signed him.
Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo are the Colts first two draft picks in 2021.
Ya-Sin has started 29 of 41 games since the Colts drafted him in the second round. Depending on what the Raiders do in free agency, Ya-Sin should compete for a starting job.
Ya-Sin has two career picks and 20 passes defensed with two forced turnovers and two fumbled balls.
