If you're like me and you're not happy with the way the Windows 11 taskbar looks, there are plenty of apps to bring it back. One of the most fully featured is Stardock's Start11, and it is being updated today to include support for ungrouping apps in Windows 11.
Ungrouping app icons, small icons, and the ability to resizing the taskbar are not supported by Microsoft. The key missing features are supported in Start11, with multi-monitor support to independently define window grouping on secondary monitors.
The Start button can be left-aligned if you want, but keep the app icons in the taskbar. Start11 already supports drag and drop, even though it will be returning to the taskbar in a future Windows 11 update.
It's odd to have to install a third-party app to get basic Windows taskbar functions back, but Start11 is a good alternative that also has bonus customization options.
Start11 isn't free. Pricing starts at $5.99 for a single device after a 30-day trial.
