If you look at the full scope of what Disney just acquired, you'll understand why they wanted all of it on Disney Plus. ABC's Agents of SHIELD, which was previously airing on Netflix, has now been added to Disney Plus.
It is a massive catalogue of shows and movies, even if they were largely ignored by the films when they aired, because they are in the MCU.
Content is on a massive scale here. This is the complete list of what was added.
All of the Defenders episodes are more or less an hour long. The first two episodes of Agents of SHIELD were aired on ABC, but the show lasted longer than the ratings indicated.
If you are looking for advice on where to start, my favorites are:
The second season of Iron Fist did offer some improvements, but it's probably a skip. The Defenders team-up series was not as good as it could have been. Daredevil season 3 may be the best season of a superhero show that has ever aired.
Disney has added some of these shows, which have hard R violence and occasionally some sex and cursing, but it has also added new controls that restrict its catalogue so parents can avoid their kids accidentally stumbling across these. Disney wasn't going to change their plans because of the protests from parents.
The future of theses is uncertain. The idea of some of these characters making their way into this current era has been embraced by Disney. In Spider-Man, Kingpin has shown up. It's not clear who will arrive next, though these shows getting fully new seasons may be another bridge to cross, and I doubt we see that for most of them. We will see. I know fans want to see characters like Quake in the proper MCU.
Lots of content to get through. Start with Daredevil. Good luck.
