There are rumors that the team is pursuing Houston Texans signal-caller Deshaun Watson.

The Texans had to accept trade offers from the Cleveland, Carolina, and New Orleans Saints. Only after they were approved could they meet with Watson to discuss their future with their teams.

Ian Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football that the Browns had done their due diligence on him. The Atlanta Falcons are up next Wednesday, according to the Pro Football Network.

The three-time Pro Bowler sat out the entire season last year after being accused of sexual assault and lewd behavior during massage sessions. Twenty-two women filed civil lawsuits, which are still pending.

A Harris County grand jury decided against pressing charges after at least 10 women filed criminal complaints against him.

The door was open for teams to make overtures to the Houston Texans regarding the ex-Clemson star, who requested a trade in January of 2021.

Since Cleveland selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft, he has been in town.

He played through multiple injuries last year, including a torn labrum in his left shoulder, and has alternated two good seasons with two below average ones.

Since returning to the league in 1999, the franchise has had a number of success and stability at quarterback, but the one that has given it the most stability and success has been Baker Mayfield.

During his four seasons in the NFL, he's dominated the league, so he would appear to provide an upgrade at the position. He led the league in passing yards and yards per attempt.

The team to watch in the race is the Browns. Even if Cleveland doesn't land him, it looks like it will be a make-or-break year for him with the Browns, especially given the team's reported interest in the Texans quarterback.
