Scott is getting rid of his fake eyelashes. The NYU professor of marketing said he would stop appearing in drag after he was confronted by the father of a trans child during a Q&A session.

I am wondering if you would consider retiring your presentations if you were a father of a trans child.

He said that the performances put his child at risk, explaining that they rely on stereotypes and provide justification for the harassment of trans and gender non conforming kids.

He seemed to be processing the interaction when Fast Company reached him on Tuesday.

I was frightened. He says it was like a spear through his heart as he thought of himself as an ally for dads and a warrior for the disenfranchised.

He compares what he does as drag to SNL-style impersonations. He thought he was helping to normalise people wearing women's clothing.

I am an academic trying to help people develop economic security for themselves and their families. I am willing to change my behavior if a father feels that my activities are hurting his child.
