It was thought better by the social media site.
The social media company most associated with the reverse-chronological feed announced Monday that it would stop promoting plans to let users quickly scroll between timelines. Seemingly at issue was not the ability to easily change between the two layouts, but rather the company's frustrating decision to default all users to the same timeline.
This is not the first time that the company has tried to make its timeline more populated by default. The company tried to shift users away from the reverse-chronological feed. On Monday, it was once again admitted that they had lost.
Some of you always want to see the latest Tweets first, so we have switched the timelines back and removed the tabbed experience for now.

In Monday's mea culpa, it was said that a significant portion of users don't want the Home timeline as their default. The company abandoned the tabbed timelines experiment altogether, instead of taking this information and running with it.
The Home timeline could be left as is without forcing users onto it. It would be more clear to users if they knew which feed they were on at any given time.
Jay Sullivan, the head of consumer product, chimed in to say that users should be respected.

If Sullivan is to be believed, it means that users really do want to see their feed in reverse-chronological order.
