Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth is retiring.

My chapter may have ended on the field, but my story is not finished. Can't wait for the next one.

He was a four-time Pro Bowler and a two-time first-team All-Pro in his career.

He played longer than expected and retired as expected. After the Rams lost to the New England Pats in the Super Bowl in February, Andrew Whitworth said he would let the off-season play out and see what was best for the franchise.

The fact that retirement was a consideration made it a strong possibility that the season could have been his last, even though he told the Rams two days later that he would return.

He ended his playing days by winning the Super Bowl with the Rams last month. It was a great moment for his career.

The Rams will be looking to find a replacement for left tackle this off-season, be it via free agency, a trade or the draft.

The Rams look to remain a contender for years to come, and protecting Matthew Stafford's blind side is a huge priority.
