Pete Davidson will be on board the New Shepard rocket later this month, depending on what you mean by space.
Several celebrities have been offered a ride to an altitude of 66 miles by the company. That is technically above the internationally agreed upon Kármán line, used to denote the boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and outer space, but it is a bit short of many children.
Davidson isn't getting anywhere near the moon. Blue Origin's customers are almost 200 miles away from where the International Space Station circles the Earth.
It would be unjust to call the flight space travel, since it will be a ride of a lifetime. The atmosphere of the Earth is still very much present, and is still within a few miles of where clouds can still form.
The mere minutes of weightlessness Davidson will experience will also be the result of the plummet back down to Earth immediately after hitting its apogee.
It's an expensive and elaborate ride that will give Davidson rare and presumably stunning views from above the clouds, but it won't make him like the one he played in a SNL skit.
He will probably be able to make a good post.
SNL star Pete Davidson is going to space with a crew of five.
Jeff Bezos was upset that his spacesuit didn't make his Crotch look good.
