A private jet linked to Roman Abramovich flew to Turkey after he was spotted at an airport in Israel.

On the same day, a jet with the registration LX-RAY flew from Ben Gurion Airport to Istanbul, Turkey. According to a private-jet comparison site, media reports suggest that the owner of the $65 million jet is Abramovich.

The news agency could not independently verify if he boarded the flight to Turkey. According to the newswire, Turkey has opposed sanctions imposed on Russia but has criticized Russia for invading Ukraine.

The report on the whereabouts ofAbramovich shows how the wealthiest Russians may be trying to move themselves and their assets to safe havens in order to escape sanctions.

The UK imposed sanctions on seven Russian billionaires on Thursday in order to punish Russian President Vladimir Putin and cripple his country's economy after he ordered the invasion of Ukraine.

The sanctions mean that the UK has banned him from doing business there. It also means that he cannot proceed with the sale of his soccer team.

According to reports, the billionaire, who has a net worth of $13.6 billion, was granted Israeli citizenship after facing delays in renewing his UK visa.

According to The Times of Israel, Israel hasn't imposed any sanctions on Russians yet. The Washington Post reported that it is trying to keep people from coming to the country. Private airplanes are only allowed to fly for 48 hours in the country, according to the paper.

Israel will not be a route to circumvent sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States and other Western countries, Israel's Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said during a visit to Slovakia on Monday, The Post reported.
