President Joe Biden can and should cancel student debt according to Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Warren said that canceling $50,000 of student-loan debt would help tens of millions of Americans.

In the last few months calls like Warren's have been amplified. Student-loan payments have been paused for two years. Biden paused for a third time through May 1. Lawmakers and advocates say that if Biden doesn't extend for a fourth time, he should cancel student debt for 43 million federal borrowers.
There are signs that there may be more relief. Two weeks ago, the White House Chief of Staff suggested to Pod Save America that borrowers can expect some sort of student-debt relief before the payment date.
The President will either look at what we should do on student debt before the pause expires or he will extend the pause.
The Education Department is preparing for a different, and likely later, date to resume collecting student debt, as evidenced by the fact that student-loan companies stopped sending notices to borrowers regarding the restart date.
Some voters are frustrated by Biden's silence on the issue of student-debt cancellation. Biden has not yet fulfilled his promise, according to a student-loan borrower.
I would be shocked if they did it, but I would go to the voting booth if they did it.
Some Republican lawmakers don't like the idea of more student-loan relief. A group of House Republicans recently called student-loan forgiveness reckless and short-sighted, citing the cost to taxpayers and the economy.
Warren is not the only Democrat who has warned about the impact failure to cancel student debt would have on elections. It would be delusional to think Democrats could win an election without delivering on progressive priorities, according to New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
