AraJet, a new airline in the Caribbean, has ordered 20 MAX jets along with purchase rights for 15 more. The airline in the Dominican Republic has a high capacity model.

The order was attributed to an unnamed customer on the Boeing website. AraJet currently has one Boeing plane in its fleet. AraJet took delivery of its first MAX jet earlier this month.

“The efficient Boeing 737 MAX, together with financial and operational support from our partners at Griffin and Bain Capital, gives us the solid foundation necessary to provide flights at affordable prices to travellers in the region…we are eager to expand our fleet with more of these amazing jets in the months ahead.”

Victor Pacheco Mendez, Founder and CEO of AraJet

The ultra-low-cost airline is based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and it plans to expand affordable travel options in the Americas. Civil Aviation states that AraJet will operate regular passenger and cargo flights to the United States, Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the United Mexican States, Panama, Aruba, the French Republic, Guatemala, Republic of Peru, Haiti, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.

About AraJet

AraJet started as a charter airline. It was announced that it would operate as a scheduled ultra-low-cost carrier. The airline stated that it had invested $60 million for the relaunch, and that it was rebranded as flycana to operate as a low-cost carrier. It wanted to operate a fleet of A320s.

In September of 2021, the airline announced that it would change its name to AraJet and offer scheduled flights.

AraJet will use five MAX aircraft on lease. The airline says that the planes will have 189 seats in an all-economy configuration. AraJet revealed its first aircraft with full livery last month.
