Pete Alonso said his vehicle flipped three times when it was hit by a driver who ran a red light.

Alonso said he is fine and will work out with the Mets on Tuesday.

I got in a brutal car accident yesterday. Alonso said that this is a really special spring training because yesterday was close to death.

Alonso said he was thankful to be alive and healthy. Anything can happen at any time. I am really, really blessed to be here.

I was coming here to work, coming to spring training, and the next thing I know, my car is flipped over, and I have to kick my window in to get out. It's really nice to be here. There is nothing wrong. Thank you Ford for having great engineering.

Alonso was the only person in the car when the accident occurred in his hometown.

He led the Mets in hits, home runs, batting average, and on- base percentage last season.
