Zelenskyy to address Congress on Wednesday

Zelenskyy has become an effective messenger for his country's needs as it battles Russian invaders. The Ukrainian leader outlined his urgent needs from the West in a call with 300 lawmakers, many of which have already been delivered.

The military assistance to Ukraine was part of a broader government funding bill that passed both chambers last week.

Zelenskyy's calls for a ban on Russian oil imports were applauded by lawmakers.

While the White House has taken the lead in imposing sanctions on Russia, Congress could pass legislation as soon as this week aimed at suspending normal trade relations with Russia. The Russian economy is in a state of collapse because of the U.S.-led sanctions.
