The recent Obi-Wan Kenobi series was given a directive to be less dark, but this is not what many Star Wars fans want to hear.

We are looking to make a hopeful, uplifting story. It's difficult to start with a character in the state that Obi-Wan would be in after Revenge of the Sith. You can just wave the magic wand and get a story that reflects what you want to feel.

Good news? Bad news? It is hard to say until we see the final product. The Mandalorian is an overall hopeful series and it is done just fine being lighthearted as Mando protects Grogu.
The ending of The Empire Strikes Back in the original trilogy and Revenge of the Sith are some of the best moments in the Star Wars series. I'm not sure how much it makes sense to have an Obi-Wan series given the events that take place before and after the show. We will see how it goes. It depends on how it is handled, and if it is better, lighthearted or worse. Disney's Star Wars has been inconsistent so far, which is the reason for a lot of concern. Most people thought the Obi-Wan trailer looked good.
On May 25, 2022, Obi-Wan will be on Disney Plus. Soon, Disney will start ramping up production on its series, and Star Wars in particular should give us Mando season 3, Ahsoka and Andor, at the very least. We will see how hopeful those may be.
