A homeless man in Manhattan probably saved his own life when he scared off the man who shot him by pretending to call the police.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the man who shot and killed a sleeping homeless man.

A bullet ripped through a man's right forearm as he slept on King St. in Hudson Square. Cops said Saturday.

He screamed when he saw the shooter, wearing all black, pointing the gun at him.

The victim faked putting a phone to his ear and said he was calling the police, sources said.

The victim ran to a red emergency reporting system box attached to a pole on Varick St., as the spooked man ran off east on King St.

He shot a sleeping man in the head and neck and ran off west on Howard St.

The victim was found dead in a sleeping bag. Cops were trying to determine his identity.

A $10,000 reward is being offered by the NYPD for information leading to the capture of a young black man wearing a black mask and shooting at another person. The pictures of the man were released Saturday.

A task force of police officers and homeless outreach workers will patrol the subway system and locations where homeless people stay to encourage them to sleep in city-run shelters, Mayor Adams said Saturday.

There was a chilling alert on Sunday. Police found a man unconscious in his sleeping bag on Murray St. after getting a call about a shooting victim in TriBeCa. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death after the man is pronounced dead.

It was not clear when the victim was shot or if it was related to Saturday's attacks. The mayor's press secretary said that Adams had been informed of the killing.

The man who shot three homeless men in Washington D.C. is the same one who shot the three in Washington, the NYPD said in a statement.

The same method of operation was used by the serial shooter in the nation's capital, who shot three homeless men in separate incidents on March 3, March 8 and March 9.

The first two victims in D.C. are expected to survive, but the March 9 victim died of multiple gunshot and stab wounds, police said.

The NYPD, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the killings.

The homeless population is one of our most vulnerable and an individual praying on them as they sleep is an extremely heinous crime.

More than two years ago, Randy RodriguezSantos was accused of killing four homeless men with a pipe in Chinatown. As he awaits trial, Santos is locked up on Rikers Island.

Anyone with information about Saturday's shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
