Mike McCartney, the quarterback's agent, announced on Sunday that the Vikings and Kirk Cousins had agreed to a one-year extension.
According to a source, the Vikings gave a fully guaranteed $35 million extension to Cousins. The quarterback will make over 50 million dollars in the next two years. His cap number this year will be reduced by two voidable years. $50 million of the deal will be paid by next year.
The final year of the $66 million extension he signed in 2020 had been set for. After six seasons in Washington, he signed a three-year, $84 million fully guaranteed contract with the Vikings.
He was selected to his third Pro Bowl last season after throwing for 4,221 yards with 33 touchdown and seven interceptions.
He will be working under a new head coach, Kevin O&Connell, who was hired to replace Mike Zimmer, who was fired after last season.
