Tom Brady, one of the greatest players in the history of the NFL, is coming back for his 23rd season just a month after announcing his retirement.

Brady said he has unfinished business and will return to the Buccaneers.

"These past two months I've realised my place is still on the field and not in the stands," he said on social media.

That time will come. It is not now. I love my team-mates and my family. They make it possible.

Brady led the team to six Super Bowl wins after being selected by the New England Pats with the 199th pick of the 2000 draft.

He was named the game's Most Valuable Player for a fifth time in his first season with the Bucs, after helping them win the Super Bowl.

He led the team back to the play-offs last season and still had a year left on his contract, but he decided to retire.

More to come.
