The top seed for the NCAA tournament was given to the Zags, who were joined by Arizona, Kansas and the defending champion Bears.

The March Madness brackets were released on Sunday for the tournament that starts Tuesday and ends in New Orleans on April 2. The title game is on April 4.

This is the return to the normal tournament, with teams going to jam-packed arenas in eight cities for the first weekend, then to four different destinations for the Sweet 16 before the fun ends in the Big Easy for the semifinals and title game.

This was a really special year because we all realized what we missed, said Jay Wright, whose team won the Big East title in front of a packed house.

The tournament was canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 epidemic. The teams played in front of a small crowd in a makeshift bubble around Indianapolis. The same thing happened last year, with the favorites to win it all being the Zags and the Bears.

The last tournament has Duke playing in the West, meaning that he may have to win to make his 13th Final Four.

There is still hope for Dayton, Oklahoma, SMU and Texas A&M if they must make a late withdrawal because of COVID-19.

The teams that just snuck in were Wyoming and Indiana. The Hoosiers are one of nine teams to make it from the Big Ten. Six teams were placed by the Big East, Big 12 and SEC.
