Emma Raducanu was the 11th seed for the Masters event in the California desert

Croatia's Petra Martic upset the British number one in the third round at Indian Wells.

The match was tied at 5-5 in the third set, and Raducanu had a chance to serve for the win.

The US Open champion lost the last three games to Martic.

The world number 13 will play at the Miami Open from 21 March.

The British player won four straight games to take the first set, but Martic broke back to force a tie-breaker, which the British player won with a superb passing shot.

Martic took it into a decider after she claimed her third break of the set, as she led 4-2 in the second.

After breaking Martic for a second time in the decider, Raducanu was on the verge of victory, but Martic fought back, dropping just two points in the last two games.

In the last 16 she will meet 28th seed Liudmila Samsonova, who won the first set.
