Taraji P. Henson is making a strange comparison between the case of Jussie Smollett and the case of the young man who was killed in 1955 in Mississippi. The star of Empire took to IG this weekend with an emotional plea on behalf of her friend, posting a photo with the #FreeJussie slogan on it. I am not here to debate you on his innocence but we can agree that the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Carolyn Bryant admitted that her claims were false, but nobody of the people involved with his death spent a day in jail. No one was hurt or killed during Jussie's time in jail. He has already lost everything. Not being able to create that in itself is enough punishment for me as an artist. He can't get a job. No one in Hollywood will hire him because he loves to create in prison. In this case that would seem fair, I pray that he is freed and put on house arrest and parole. Please use the #freejussie. As we told you, Jussie's brother told his followers that his sibling had been placed in the psych ward of the Cook County Jail, but we have learned that is not the case. Our law enforcement sources tell us that it is where high-profile inmates are housed, and that he will also be in protective custody while there. It is almost certain that not everyone will agree with what she is selling here. They are completely different cases, circumstances and time periods.
