The Mitchells vs. the Machines was the winner of the best animated feature. The comedy about an odd family being the last hope against a robot apocalypse has been a hit since it was released back in April and cleaned up in the categories it was nominated in. Mike Rianda and Jeff Rowe won awards for best director and writing, as well as for best voice acting for Abbi Jacobson, best editing, and character and production design. Rowe expressed his gratitude, thanking everyone for voting on something weird and different.
Disney took home some wins last night, but Mitchells beat them out for last year's animated films. Encanto won awards for their work, including character animation, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Germaine Franco's music, and storyboarding. WETA studios won for their work on Shang-Chi in the live action category.
The TV category was won by Netflix. Along with best TV series, the League of Legends series took best animation, writing, character animation and design, production design, storyboarding, and direction for its season finale. The Three won for best music and TV for children.
