At a rally in Florence, South Carolina, on Saturday night, Donald Trump told his supporters to "lay down their lives" to fight Critical Race Theory.

During a speech that lasted a little under an hour, Trump told a crowd that removing Critical Race Theory from schools is a matter of national survival.

The fate of any nation depends on the willingness of its citizens to lay down, and they must do this, lay down their lives to defend their country, according to Trump.

There will be no one left to defend our flag or protect our freedom if we allow the Marxists, communists, and socialists to hate America.

Insider reached out to Trump on Sunday morning but did not hear back.

Insider previously reported that Republicans across the US have been campaigning against Critical Race Theory.

Several experts told Insider last year that the GOP campaign is part of a broader effort to undermine conversations about the pervasiveness of racism in US history.

Andrew Hartman, a history professor at Illinois State University, said in an interview with Insider that the GOP politicians and conservative media obsess over the issue to gin up outrage that might translate into future votes, but in the meantime definitely translate into donations and ratings.

The Florida Senate passed a bill on Thursday that will limit race-related discussions in classrooms and workplaces, a win for Republicans who oppose Critical Race Theory teaching in schools.

The bill is known as the Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act and will take effect in July.
