Michael Olise has impressed the England manager with his performances for Crystal Palace and is on his radar. What makes him special? Sky Sports takes a look at Palace's Monday Night Football clash against Manchester City...

The 20-year-old became Patrick Vieira's first Palace signing of the summer after impressing for Reading as a teenager, scoring seven goals and 12 assists in the Championship in his first full season of professional football.

It was a difficult first few months for Olise at Palace, as he was limited to just two starts due to an injury. Olise has proven himself to be a great bargain at just 8 million dollars, ranking him among Europe's top under-21 creators.

He is the modern right-winger. Olise finds a way back inside when defenders try to cut in on his left-foot, but time and time again he finds a way back inside and so often to devastating effect.

Olise's level of performances come as no surprise to Vieira, and he hopes they can keep hold of the winger for a long time. The Palace boss feels that Olise needs to improve out of possession if he is to become a complete player, having deployed him as a No 10 in recent weeks.

The player spent time with both Manchester City and Chelsea before breaking through at Reading. He is showing that he has the potential to go all the way to the top with top clubs, including the ones that are interested in him.

What makes Olise so special?

Jose Gomes, the former Reading boss, told Adam Bate that he was talking about a player who would bring people to the stadium.

Three years ago, Olise promised that he would deliver on the promise which encouraged Gomes to hand the then 17-year-old his debut against Leeds.

Olise has averaged one assist per 90 minutes since the start of the season, more than any player under the age of 21 in Europe's top five leagues.

In addition to that, Olise has the third-highest goal contributions per 90 minutes without penalties across the same category, with only Hugo Ekitike (0.79) and Florian Wirtz (0.83).

Michael Olise

Olise has maintained his levels of productivity and rank highly among the top U21 creators across the Premier League and Europe since the start of 2022, when he started all but two of Palace's games.

Olise is the only U21 player in the top flight who has registered as many assists as he has goal involvements. The only U21 player who has created more chances per 90 minutes is England's Saka.

Where does Olise's international future lie?

Sky Sports News has an England reporter.

lise is being considered for an England call-up, but the 20-year-old's international future remains up in the air. Olise was born in London to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother.

The Palace player last played international football for France under-18s three years ago, but never joined up.

The next squad selection may be decided by Southgate. Even if he were to be involved in either of England's two friendly games against Switzerland orIvory Coast, that wouldn't change Olise's international future.

Under the age of 21 players can still change their loyalties until they have played three competitive matches for a particular country.

Southgate has always been clear that he won't offer up international caps to try to win a player's allegiance to England. There was a stance which was highlighted when there was growing clamor for Anthony Elanga to be given an England call-up.

Sky Sports News reported that even though Elanga is eligible for England on the basis of residency, he has come through the junior ranks with Sweden and identifies as Swedish.

Analysis: 'Top clubs will start sniffing'

Sky Sports News has Michael Bridge.

Crystal Palace and their recruitment team are given credit. This was done early. The 8 million dollar fee looks like an unbelievable business now. Palace are aware of the talent in the Championship.

Deal done for Michael Olise. Ticks literally every box. Very exciting signing. Eze a big loss for the first few months but mouthwatering combination when he’s back. Good start for Patrick Vieira in what will be a very busy summer at #CPFC https://t.co/oT9IJLT0v3

It was a slow start due to injuries, but we are starting to see something special. Palace was a one-man team a few years ago. The fans will not mind me saying it, but the over reliance on Wilfried Zaha was not healthy and he is now just a number of exciting forwards.

lise's performance at Wolves reminded me of a computer game, the way he just glides with the ball, spraying it from one side to the other. He is so dangerous on the right-hand side that he reminds me of Mahrez.

He has a decision to make regarding his international future, but he has good people around him and a great leader in Olise for advice, even though he has said recently he will let Olise make the decision.

He has huge potential. Just 20 years old. He could go to the top. The clubs at the top of the league will start sniffing, but I firmly believe he is at the perfect club right now and for the next few years at least.

It is exciting times at Palace and Olise.

Sky Sports will show Crystal Palace vs Manchester City on Monday Night Football.
