According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, former Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly has agreed to a two-year deal with the White Sox.
Nightengale said that the deal will be finalized once Kelly passes his physical.
During a radio appearance on 570 LA Sports last month, Kelly said he wanted to return to the Dodgers for the 2022 season, and that the feeling was mutual.
It is unclear if the Dodgers made him an offer.
In 48 games in 2021, he had a.988 WHIP and 50 strikeouts. He was one of L.A.'s better pitchers, and that will likely be the case in Chicago.
Even though Michael Kopech is set to enter the starting rotation, the White Bulls' relief corps looks formidable on paper. Adding Kelly gives the franchise another proven arm, as Kelly was one of the bright spots in the Chicago's bullpen last season.
The Chicago Cubs signed a pitcher who posted a 1.77 earned run average last year with the Houston Astros to a three-year, $24 million deal before the start of the season.
The White Sox finished first in the American League Central with a 93-69 record in the 2021 season. They had not finished first in their division since the 2008 season.
The Chicago Cubs will be hoping that a new bullpen can help them get past the divisional round for the first time since 2005, when they won the World Series.
