The police officer who was shot along with two other officers will not recover, the police chief said.

The family of patrol officer Jake Reed said he was going to donate his organs.

We are so proud and thankful for his service to this community. Jake is an outstanding young man.

Benjamin Cooper died after being shot. A third officer, Rick Hirshey, was also shot and was in serious but stable condition.

Reed joined the police force. He and Cooper were the first officers to confront Anthony Felix.

Felix stole a patrol car after shooting the two officers. He crashed the car and was on the run when he saw the patrol car positioned to stop the theft. Felix hit Hirshey in the face with a shot through the windshield.

After more than 20 years of service, Hirshey retired from the police force three months ago but returned to the department. The chief said that he will face a lot of health problems in the days to come.

Felix was shot and killed by a police officer. Davis, a veteran of more than 15 years, exposed himself to stop the suspect.

If not for the actions of Capt. Davis, more officers and citizens could have been killed.

Everyone was asked to pray for the officers. He thanked the community for its support.

There is no information about Felix that the police have released.
