Cuonzo Martin was fired by the school after five seasons.
After three seasons at California, Martin was hired by Missouri to replace Kim Anderson. In Martin's first season, the Tigers reached the NCAA tournament, but they failed to advance out of the first round in each of the next two seasons.
Missouri went 12-21 and 5-13 in the SEC this season. The season ended with a loss to LSU in the SEC tournament. Missouri lost seven of its last nine games.
Martin went 78-77 in five seasons.
Prior to taking over at Missouri, Martin spent three seasons at California, three seasons at Tennessee and three seasons at Missouri State. He made an NCAA tournament appearance with California in 2016 and went to a Sweet 16 with Tennessee in 2014). Martin was an assistant coach at Purdue for eight seasons.
The men's basketball head-coaching search is the fourth in a row. Frank Haith, Anderson, and Martin all lasted three seasons. Murray State's Matt McMahon is one of the potential candidates expected to be involved, according to sources.
