Pakistan's air force officially inducted its first batches of Chinese-built J-10C fighter jets on Friday in a ceremony in Islamabad with officials from both countries.

Several of the jets flew overhead as the Prime Minister welcomed the purchase. Pakistan has not said how many aircraft were bought in the deal. China has sold military aircraft to Pakistan before.

Pakistan said a surface to surface missile launched from India damaged a wall in a residential area but caused no casualties.

Pakistan summoned an Indian diplomat and lodged a protest after the incident, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry.

In his Friday speech, Khan said that the Chinese-built planes would play an important role in fixing the security imbalance in the region.

The missile that ended up in Pakistan was fired by mistake due to a technical malfunction, according to a statement issued by India's defense ministry. The government ordered an investigation.

India said that the incident is deeply regrettable and that there has been no loss of life due to the accident.

Pakistan and India have a long history of distrust. They have fought three wars, two over the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, which is divided between the two but claimed by both.
