Amex outdoes itself when you think the offers can get any better. The previous 150,000 points welcome offer is even better because of the new referral link that adds 10x on all spending at restaurants for the first 6 months.

I was thrilled with the previous welcome bonus and used it to earn more than half a million points when buying a used car, but there were some who were not interested in that offer since they may not have had enough small business or restaurant spend to maximize it.
If you were in that camp, this new referral offer may interest you since it represents a fantastic offer for a huge sum of points after a relatively reasonable amount of spend. This offer would have been great before late 2020. It's fair to say that it's still good in comparison to other cards, especially when you consider the many Amex Membership rewards sweet spots.
Only some Platinum card holders have the ability to generate a link good for this offer, but the offer itself is publicly available to anyone applying through a qualified referral link. The bonus that you'll get as a result of generating a 150K + 10x link will be advertised in the section of your login that shows the Platinum card you have. In late 2020 we saw a situation where only a small number of Platinum card holders were able to refer to the best offer.
The Platinum card welcome bonus is only available to people who have had a Platinum card before. If you have only had the Morgan Stanley version of the Platinum card, you would be eligible, but if you have had the vanilla Platinum card before, you will not be.

We always present the offer that allows new applicants to earn the best bonus, even if it doesn't benefit our site through affiliates. We wanted to share the wealth by using readers and referral links on the site, since referral earnings are limited to 55,000 points per person and that's maxed out after just a couple of referrals. You can find your referral link by logging in to your American Express account and scrolling down to the link at the bottom of the page. If you change your card at the top of the referral page, your Amex Platinum card will be selected.
Before sharing your referral link, please make sure that you give new applicants a link to the offer that will give them 150,000 Membership Reward points after 6 months of purchases with 10x at Restaurants. Not all Amex Platinum cards can offer that superior offer. If you earn 30,000 points per referral from your Platinum card, then your offer will likely be for the better one.
Step 2 is to join the frequent miler Insiders Facebook group.
You can skip this step if you are already part of our Facebook group. You need to join this group if you are not a member. If you join on mobile or desktop, you will be asked a question or two to make sure you are not a bot. If you don't answer that question, you won't be admitted to the group.
