The Joro spider, a colorful arachnid that can grow as big as the palm of your hand, has rapidly spread across the southeast and could be invading the east coast very soon.

The experts don't know if the spider will come to Indiana or not. The Joro spider can't bite people or poison pets, so it won't be a big deal.

The Joro spider's presence won't be terribly remarkable, but there is another crawly that gives him pause: the Asian needle ant.

Scientists say a spider as big as the palm of your hand could soon invade the East Coast.

The furthest north the Asian needle ant has traveled was discovered last week in the Evansville area.

It is the first ant in Indiana that has a venom sac. For a long time, experts have assured Hoosiers that there are no ants with stingers in the area.

He said that other ants will bite, but this is 888-282-0465 888-282-0465 888-282-0465.

The Asian needle ant is very similar to the Argentine ant in appearance. Don't let it fool you.

The needle ant can damage homes, as well as woodland and outdoor areas, putting them in close proximity with people. This poses a difference from fire ants, which prefer to reside outside, and increases the ant's ability to survive in cold temperatures.

Because it gets inside homes, it is protected from the temperature extremes that can limit it.

Here are 5 of the most harmful invaders in Indiana.

The sting from the Asian needle ant will be painful. People who are hyper-allergic to bee sting should be prepared with an EpiPen.

While he hopes people don't panic, he said they should be aware of the dangers of this ant.

It can be lethal and it will hurt like crazy.
