Unvaccinated employees will be allowed to return.

United Airlines will bring back 2,000 employees who were put on leave last year because they refused to get vaccinations.

Workers who claim a medical or religious exemption will be allowed to return to work on March 28.

The company's vice president of human relations, Kirk Limacher, said that United was taking the step because it expects coronaviruses cases, hospitalisations and deaths to continue to drop over the next few weeks.

If another variant emerges or the Covid trends suddenly reverse course, we will reexamine the appropriate safety protocols.

The 200 employees that were fired because they did not comply will not be rehired by the airline.

In August of last year, United said it would require US employees to bevaccinated against Covid. The company said that more than 98% of their US workers were vaccine free.

Kirby defended the employee mandate in December. We think it saved lives.

A federal judge in Texas upheld the vaccine mandate after six employees sued to block it. The 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the federal judge must reconsider the injunction the workers sought.

The severity of the Pandemic has lessened and United wants to dismiss the appeal.

In light of the changed circumstances, the court should dismiss the appeal and grant the preliminary-injunction motion.

A United Airlines spokeswoman said that the company still requires new employees to be vaccinations.
