The San Francisco Chronicle reported that a Silicon Valley tech employee identified the dead Ukrainian mother and her family in the photo.

A photo of a mother and her children who were killed by Russian forces as they fled their native town of Irpin has been released by a tech startup.

According to the Chronicle, a group of people, including a woman and her children, ran across a partially damaged bridge over the Irpin river to the capital city of Kyiv.

The New York Times ran a photo of a family sprawled on the ground on the front page.

When the invasion started due to her ailing mother and her son being ordered along with all Ukrainian men to stay behind, she stayed behind.

Khirvonina told the Chronicle that it was a tragedy to see those pictures. They prove that the Russian army and Putin are monsters who deserve no mercy for their actions.

Khirvonina, who fled to Dubai from Ukraine last month, described the woman as a big sister to everyone, The Chronicle reported.

She said that the company helped Sergii fly to Kyiv to arrange funeral plans for his wife and children.
